I agree, somewhat

September 4, 2009 · 1 Comment

I’m sure by now you’ve all seen this on your friend’s status updates on Facebook, or perhaps you’ve even posted it as your own status:

No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick.

Although I agree with the above quote (which I haven’t followed the crowd & put as my status) I also agree with another quote that I found in the comments section of another blog about this topic. It was posted by a man named John Heida:

Nobody should die standing in the long lines of socialized government run health care.

Yes it’s true, there needs to be some type of reform in our health care system, but I honestly don’t believe that the health care bill in its current form is the answer to our problem. I personally don’t have health insurance because I can’t afford it, but I’d rather stay uninsured than to be forced into a government run program.

Take a look at the long lines for patients in Canada & the UK. Do we really want doctor’s offices & hospitals to look like the DMV, which is a hell in & of itself? “Now serving patient G356.” No Thanks!

I agree with the comment, too. It is pretty close to motherhood and apple pie. It is the next question that is revealing.

And how do we pay to uphold and back up this principle? Not a one of the people who have posted this on FB have even tried to approach this question.

It is great to have principles and ideas, but the devil is in the details. Read my post about costs on my blog. Can we also agree that everyone has to pay something towards their own or their families health care? Can we agree that everyone has to purchase healthcare at some minimum level?
